Used Steinway Pianos in New England

Buying a used Steinway is not like buying a new one off a showroom floor. Two instruments of the same model and year can play and sound completely differently depending on how they were built, played, stored, and rebuilt. That is why every piano in our collection is chosen and evaluated by Roger, a Registered Piano Technician with more than four decades at the bench — not a salesperson, a technician.

We are a specialist, not a general music store. We concentrate on Steinway and a short list of the world's finest makers, which means when you come to hear a Model B or Model O with us, you are comparing genuinely good examples — not whatever happened to be traded in.

The words matter. A reconditioned piano has been cleaned, regulated and voiced to play its best in its current condition. A rebuilt piano has had major components — soundboard, pinblock, strings, action parts — replaced or remanufactured, effectively resetting the clock on its life. Each has its place and its price, and the right choice depends on your budget and how the instrument will be used.

We tell you plainly which category a given piano falls into and what work has been done, so you can weigh a beautifully rebuilt older Steinway against a younger, lightly used one and understand exactly what your money is buying.

Our two Massachusetts showrooms — Natick, in MetroWest, and Burlington, north of Boston — are an easy drive for most of eastern New England, and we arrange professional white-glove delivery well beyond them. We regularly place pianos in homes across New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine and Connecticut.
